Grants

Teachers from all four schools in our district are encouraged to submit grant requests for innovative and enrichment programming. All grants are carefully reviewed by the LAEF Board and awarded based on various criteria.

Recent grants awarded include:

Developmental Training for Math Department

District math teachers benefited from an all-day training and professional development session with renowned, local math coach Eric Milou.

 

Elementary social/emotional wellness speaker

Motivational speaker Corey Jones, a former all-star basketball athlete who was cyber-bullied as a child, shared the importance of making good choices, showing respect for others and being responsible, all while incorporating music and dance.

 

Environmental Club

Support for the Environmental Club to participate in the 5th Annual Youth Climate Summit, which helps develop them as environmental leaders and advocates through hands-on solutions learning activities, sustainability lectures and career counseling.

 

Mural Creation

Support for the Art I classes to design and create a mural inside SHR High School that highlights sportsmanship, kindness, empathy and athletics.  This collaboration shown amongst the students through this project was a strong example for the entire District.

 

Inclusion speaker for Abilities Week

Elementary students heard from Timothy Rohrer, a yong adult with autism who is an author, speaker, self-advocate and educator on disability inclusion.

 

New extracurricular clubs

The ping pong club originated as a student-written grant where the LAEF funded supplies and support for the creation of a new club, open to all grades at SHR MS & HS, that includes games and tournaments.

 

Playground equipment

The LAEF was pleased to purchase a new, moveable gaga pit for the elementary school while it was serving students off-location at St. John’s in Lambertville.  The gaga pit was relocated to the new SHR Elementary School when it opened in August 2024.

 

History Brought to Life on Broadway

Student from the Drama Club, Black Student Union, and the Latinx Student Union traveled to NYC to see history brought to life on Broadway during the musical Hamilton.

The Philadelphia Zoo

First and second graders from both LPS and WAES traveled together and made new friends during a joint field trip to The Philadelphia Zoo in anticipation of their classes being combined for the next school year in the new Elementary School.

 

High School Academy’s Eagle’s Perch

The Eagle’s Perch, a new food service and merchandising store for the District, was concepted and created by the Transition Seminar class as a way to take their connections between academics and career exploration to the next level.

 

Oaxacan Cultural Immersion

The Spanish Honor Society participated in an immersion meal and special viewing of the film We Heart Oaxaca, which documents the Oaxacan culture in Lambertville, NJ.

 

MS/HS Social Emotional Wellness

8th and 9th graders attended an experiential workshop that focuses on ending fear, isolation, separation, and loneliness, challenging our students to “be the change” and “accept themselves for who they are”.

 

The McCarter Theatre Arts Grant

High School drama students worked extensively with McCarter Theater professionals culminating in a wonderful live production of Romeo and Juliet.

 

Robotics

LAEF supports the Robotics Club by funding competitions and equipment.

 

Architecture Workshops

A series of architecture workshops focusing on math, science, engineering and problem solving skills. Students designed and built a bridge, a bird house, and Olympic structures.
